In this podcast we explore privacy and what it means in today\u2019s information economy. Our guest is Marc Rotenberg<\/a>, President and Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center or EPIC<\/a> in Washington DC. Epic is an independent public research center focused on the emerging privacy and civil liberties issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In this podcast we discuss how the business models of some of today’s tech behemoths have impacted privacy and how they may yet evolve. We also delve into just how much control we as individuals have over our private data, and whether there are other models that minimizes or eliminate the collection of Personally Identifiable Information or PII? We question whether there is in fact a tradeoff between privacy and convenience or privacy and security? And what about how we design technology and systems today? In other words, do we need to relent and rethink our expectations of privacy, or do we need to fundamentally rethink design so that data and privacy rights are built in.
